Project CommuniTree at T.A. Lowery Elementary

Dozens of T.A. Lowery Elementary School students got a jump on Earth Day recently when they worked with area conservationists to plant trees on their campus. Tanner Haid from Cacapon Institute teaches students how to properly plant trees and the importance of tree planting near watershed areas. The school’s students are no strangers to conservation projects because they have an ongoing tree-planting project — including a walking path featuring trees that are native to West Virginia.

WV Project CommuniTree promotes tree planting and education on public land through volunteerism in the Potomac Headwaters of West Virginia. CommuniTree is a program of the The Cacapon Institute, the WV Conservation Agency, and the WV Division of Forestry, that is engaged in on-the-ground actions throughout the Potomac headwaters.
