Volunteer Day: Blue Ridge Regional Park
Volunteer Day at Blue Ridge Regional Park was a success! We enjoyed beautiful weather and got lots of work done pulling and cutting invasive vegetation from the remaining stone wall. We also made progress in the ongoing battle with oriental bittersweet and bamboo-two particularly troublesome invasive plants!! Thanks, as always, to Robin Williams of the Virginia Native Plant Society for her invaluable assistance in identifying these species and determining the most effective ways to cut them. Thanks also to Karl Mohle of the Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority for pitching in! Following several hours of hard work we enjoyed refreshments under the picnic shelter. Thanks to everyone who came out–you made a difference!
