Goose Creek Association Invites Community to “Experience Goose Creek: A Day on the Water”

Middleburg, VA — May 2026 — Goose Creek Association invites the community to immerse themselves in the beauty and ecology of one of Northern Virginia’s most treasured waterways at “Experience Goose Creek: A Day on the Water,” taking place on Sunday, May 31, 2026, from 8:30 AM to 2:00 PM.

This signature outdoor event offers participants a unique opportunity to connect with nature while learning about conservation efforts that protect the Goose Creek watershed. Designed for all experience levels, the event features both on-the-water and land-based activities, ensuring there is something for everyone.

Choose Your Experience

Attendees can select from two engaging tracks:

  • Guided Kayak Paddle (9:00 AM – 1:00 PM):
Participants will paddle a scenic stretch of Goose Creek with expert guidance, gaining firsthand insight into the creek’s ecology and conservation challenges. All kayaks and gear are provided.
  • Wildlife Exploration Track:
    • Bird Walk (9:00 AM – 11:00 AM): Led by expert naturalists, this walk highlights native bird species and their habitats.
    • Aquatic Wildlife Demonstration (11:30 AM – 1:00 PM): A hands-on experience showcasing how scientists assess water quality and identify aquatic life that signals ecosystem health.

Lunch & Student Presentations

At 1:00 PM, guests are invited to enjoy a complimentary lunch provided by The Goodstone, followed by special presentations from participants in the Next Gen Creekkeepers youth program. These student-led capstone projects highlight the next generation’s commitment to conservation and environmental stewardship.

A Celebration of Conservation and Community

“Experience Goose Creek” is more than an outdoor event—it is a celebration of the community’s shared responsibility to protect local waterways. Through hands-on learning and immersive exploration, participants gain a deeper understanding of the vital role Goose Creek plays in regional water quality, wildlife habitat, and quality of life.

The event is free for Goose Creek Association members, with donations encouraged to support ongoing programs, including water quality monitoring, riparian buffer restoration, and environmental education initiatives.
